Dobrev blew out her birthday candles while wearing a cardboard cut-out with the most frequently used emojis: poop and eggplant. She also wore the cardboard to a pole dance.

Dobrev was joined by her boyfriend, Austin Stowell, who dressed up like a panda emoji. Nick Jonas, who was the 100 emoji, partied alongside The Vampire Diaries costar Kat Graham, Julianne Hough, Hailee Steinfeld, Jessica Szohr and Eli Mizrahi. The most popular costumes were smiley faces, poop and eggplant.

“It was a great birthday,” a source told E! News exclusively. “Nina was so happy so many of her close friends turned out. It was a big party.”

It looks like a lot of people put on their imagination thinking caps to come up with some great costumes. Dobrev’s longtime hair stylist, Riawna Capri of Nine Zero One Salon, and some of her team came dressed as girl emojis. Capri is the one with the scissors.
