Catelynn Lowell has made a shocking confession that could wind up helping tons of Teen Mom fans.
In a new interview, Lowell revealed that despite having given birth to daughter Novalee over a year ago, she is still suffering from a “mind-crippling” case of postpartum depression.
“I didn’t really know and I still don’t know what’s going on with my postpartum,” she told Life & Style (via Radar Online). “For a while I felt fine, but I’ve always suffered from depression, anxiety and panic attacks.”

Lowell made the decision, along with her doctor, to start taking antidepressants to ease her symptoms, but she said her biggest strength has come from her husband, Tyler Baltierra.
“Tyler is my backbone and helps me a lot,” she said. “He pushes me and will make me do things like go for a walk so [the depression] goes away.”
This is not the first time Lowell has discussed her postpartum depression, but this is definitely the most serious it has ever sounded. Last month she told fans at a book signing event, “I recognized it nine months after Novalee was born… it’s a daily struggle.”

Teen Mom fans will get to see some of Lowell’s struggle on upcoming episodes of the show. In fact, previews have already given a glimpse of her struggle. In one, we can see Lowell struggling to even get out of bed and hiding under the covers. Her concerned mom asks, “Is she going through some kind of postpartum?”
Postpartum depression is a serious disease that affects millions of new moms every year. Hopefully by bringing awareness to a young generation of women, Lowell’s experience will encourage them to get help should they ever need it themselves.
