Camille Cosby is fighting back against Bill Cosby rape charges

Bill Cosby has another line of defense in his ongoing sexual assault case.

Bill Cosby’s wife is doing everything she can to avoid being questioned in an upcoming deposition for the case, the Associated Press reported Friday.

According to reports, Camille Cosby’s lawyers are fighting a judge’s decision to allow her to testify under oath in the case, filed in Massachusetts by seven women who claim they were sexually abused by Bill Cosby decades ago.

The AP reports that Massachusetts Magistrate Judge David Hennessy has refused to throw out a subpoena for Camille to testify. A rule in Massachusetts that disqualifies spouses from testifying against each other or about private conversations within the marriage only applies in actual court, Hennessy reportedly ruled, and doesn’t apply to the upcoming deposition.

But Camille’s lawyers are arguing that the rule encompasses all court proceedings, which would include depositions. They filed an appeal Thursday to try to block their client from having to participate in the deposition, which is scheduled for this month.

Meanwhile, nearly 50 other women have come forward over the last year to accuse Bill Cosby of sexual assault, drugging and rape. He continues to deny all of the allegations, and has filed a counter-suit against the seven women who are suing him in Massachusetts.
