A former employee is suing the Dr. Phil show, and her reasons for doing so are shocking.

Leah Rothman, a staffer on the show for more than a decade, filed suit against Dr. Phil McGraw, claiming she was forced to quit her job in April 2015 because of a hostile work environment created when McGraw allegedly held 300 employees in a room with security guards, cursed at them and threatened them. Rothman had worked as a segment director on Dr. Phil since 2003.
Rothman says she was called into work on March 11, 2015, where she and approximately 300 other employees of the show were gathered in the security-staffed room and ordered to give up their phones, according to court documents obtained by People magazine. According to Rothman’s account of events, McGraw was looking for an employee who had leaked information to the media, and told the gathered employees, “If you f*** with me, I’ll f*** with you.”

What’s more, Rothman alleges in her suit that McGraw already knew who had leaked the information prior to the meeting, and that he held it for the purpose of intimidating his employees. She claimed he read from cue cards during the incident, citing that as evidence that he had planned the meeting in advance.
Rothman’s suit also claims that she met with a human resources representative at CBS about a week after the meeting to complain about McGraw’s conduct. She says the HR rep sympathized and promised to schedule a follow-up meeting, but that it never materialized.
Rothman, who said she was forced to leave the show because of the emotional stress caused by McGraw’s gathering of employees, is suing the TV doctor for false imprisonment, emotional distress, whistleblower retaliation and wrongful termination, according to People.
