Miranda Lambert has a new song that is exposing the truth about her feelings during her divorce from Blake Shelton.
At an acoustic show in Nashville, Tennessee, on Wednesday, Lambert called 2015 “shitty” and shared a song called “Scars” with the low-key audience that she said summed up her experience.
“This song is — Oh, God, I hope I don’t cry when I sing it! We both had a really shitty year in 2015… He [Scotty] wrote this song like 16 years ago, the year before I met him, and I have been in love with it for that long,” Lambert explained.
She added that she might record the song on a future album.
Lambert told the audience, “I was never damaged enough to sing a song called ‘Scars.’ It’s something you have to sell and really feel and really live and go through shit, basically, to execute a song like that.”

Though Lambert and Shelton have both moved on with new relationships — Shelton with his high-profile fellow The Voice judge Gwen Stefani, and Lambert with the younger Anderson East — it clearly hasn’t been easy for either of them.
During an interview with The Bobby Bones Show back in September, Shelton revealed that the divorce all happened so quickly that it was a bit unnerving.
“In Oklahoma, it happens so fast,” he explained. “Like Miranda and I didn’t have any kids, and we had a prenuptial agreement, whatever we had. Once we filed for divorce, it was over in, like — I think we had a nine or 10-day waiting period until it’s over.”
Lambert’s song about her divorce is also reminiscent of Stefani’s new song, “Used to Love You,” which is all about her split from Gavin Rossdale and carries the same threads of heartbreak, though cheating was not involved between Lambert and Shelton as it was for Stefani.
