Deadpool has an Australian accent (you can argue how good it is amongst yourselves) in his latest video release, and this time he’s sending a special message to his Australian fans — just in time for Australia Day.
In the latest Deadpool promo, Marvel’s antihero, played by Ryan Reynolds, has a lot to say about Australia — the film will premiere in Australia on Feb. 11.
More: Who is Deadpool, and why is everyone so excited about him?
“I’d fit right in your proud nation with its shady criminal past and its predilection for black-out drinking and unrelenting condescension towards New Zealand,” he begins before taking a swipe at Wolverine.
“I’ve got no problem with Hugh [Jackman]. I mean, he’s a delightful guy, true legend. But the movie, that was a career low for me, you understand,” he says.
He also doesn’t think much about Australia Day, as he chuckles to himself that it’s a “real thing.” And he’d rather not wear a cork hat.
Judging from the comments on the video, there are a lot of people who think this is pure brilliance.
“These spots are great. Deadpool should have his own youtube channel and carry it long after his movies are done,” one commenter wrote.
More: According to Hollywood, only the male heroes always save the day
Other comments include, “Deadpool and Wolverine have to do a movie together before he retires” and “I will be sad when the movie comes out, because we won’t get anymore of this hilarious Deadpool advertising.”
There’s also some excitement on Twitter:

But do Australians agree? It’s not that we can’t laugh at ourselves, but is this video aimed at the right demographic, or is it just to amuse Americans?
Hmmm. Well, we can’t be sure, but some contrasting comments on the same video uploaded by JoBlo Movie Trailers include:
“That was a terrible Aussie accent. That sounded more like a Kiwi one. But ha ah, yeah we’ll have some extra grog in your honor DP.”
MuFFiNRAWR1 wrote, “Dude…. thats not aussie when you say ‘Put a shrimp on the barby’ Aussies hate that. We eat steak! Steeaaak. Do you know what steak is?? :D”
One thing everyone can agree on is that the marketing is on point.
Sad thing about DEADPOOL… One day, it'll come out. And the marketing will end. No matter how good the film is, I'll miss the marketing.
