It’s been eight years since the death of Aussie actor and heartthrob Heath Ledger. Although an accidental overdose took the 28-year-old’s life too soon, his talent still shines through the 19 movies and four TV series under his belt.
Cheers to some of his best film moments:
1. 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)
Don’t we all wish we had a Patrick Verona in our lives who would sing and dance across bleachers to express his love for you?
2. Two Hands (1999)
You won’t be able to take your eyes off of Ledger as Jimmy, a local gangster, in Two Hands.
3. The Brothers Grimm (2005)
Watch Ledger as Jacob throw a fit and punch Matt Damon, who plays his on-screen brother.
4. Brokeback Mountain (2005)
Ledger received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for his role as Ennis Del Mar. Just look at that clean-shaven, rugged mountain main.
5. Casanova (2005)
Oh, I’ll wait right here for you while you come back with a glass of wine. How can you not fall in love with Casanova? I can’t help but giggle at this scene.
6. Candy (2006)
Sigh. Don’t you just wish you were Candy? When that tear trickles down Dan’s face, I just wish I could reach out and wipe it away.
7. The Dark Knight (2008)
“Why so serious?” The Joker’s menacing laugh may echo in your ears, but this film won some serious awards. Ledger posthumously received Best Supporting Actor awards from the Academy, the Golden Globes and BAFTAs. He also received the Best Actor International Award at the 2008 Australian Film Institute Awards.
8. The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009)
Do I dream? Why, yes. I’m dreaming of you. Although this movie was released posthumously, Ledger was still in all of our hearts.
