A cryptic photo posted on Instagram by Keiko Agena has fans wondering if the oft-rumored revival series they’ve hoped for may finally be in the works.

Agena played Lane Kim, best friend of Alexis Bledel’s Rory Gilmore, on the popular series, which ran from 2000 to 2007. Six seasons were shown on The WB before the show switched over to The CW for its final two seasons.

Many fans of the show believe Agena’s character was closely based on Pai, who was a good friend of Gilmore Girls creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino. Art imitates life, right?

Naturally, the photo and its cryptic message made fans believe the revival series is finally on its way.

“We missed all of you soooo much .., can’t wait!!!” one follower commented on Agena’s Instagram post. Another wrote, “All of your fans and fans of GG are sooooooo excited. It’s a wish come true.”

Rumors have been swirling for years that a spin-off of the popular series is in the works, but so far, nothing has come to fruition. Netflix has been at the center of a lot of the rumors, ever since news broke that the streaming site was in talks to head up the revival effort. Last week, however, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, Ted Sarandos, told reporters he couldn’t confirm anything.

I can’t tell you much about Gilmore Girls,” he said. “We’re still working on buttoning down everything before our announcements.”
