Game of Thrones‘ Kit Harington gives telling interview on Jon Snow’s fate

To promote his new stage play, Kit Haringon appeared on the British morning show BBC Breakfast. Of course, the hosts had to ask the most burning question of 2016: Is Jon Snow truly dead?

Beginning April 9, the oh-so-sexy Kit Harington will be performing live in the play Dr. Faustus, about a stage magician who sells his soul to Satan in return for fame and fortune. The black comedy by Christopher Marlowe will run at London’s Duke of York Theatre and will no doubt sell out, considering Harington’s rabid fan base. But not all of us can make it to London this spring, so we seriously hope some version of Jon Snow, whether ghost, zombie, flashback or reanimated corpse, will appear in Season 6 of Game of Thrones. According to the video below, however, it doesn’t seem likely.

On the set of BBC Breakfast, Harington said, “Anyone who wants to know what happens in Season 6 has to wait until it comes out. All I can tell you is that Jon Snow is dead. He died at the end of the last season.”

The host asked if Jon Snow’s spirit lives on in the show, to which Harington replied with a cryptic, “Who knows? You’ll have to wait and see. It’s going to be a very exciting season, so I’m led to believe.”

Cold comfort there. But one thing we didn’t know was that the Game of Thrones pilot had to be completely reshot.

“I had a horrible wig on in the pilot and it just didn’t work. No one’s ever seen it. It’s in some back room somewhere and I’d like it to stay there,” said Harington.

Though we like his hair natural, we sure are curious about the wig. Harington did admit that reading the pilot for Game of Thrones was “the most bizarre thing I’d read ever. I thought, ‘How is this going to work?’ Are people ever going to watch this?’ I think it was a really pleasant surprise for us all when it took off the way it did.”

If only Jon Snow could stay with us forever.
