The Vampire Diaries executive producer Caroline Dries definitely knows how to make a fan’s jaw drop.

During our interview with her this week, we asked about the exciting news that Stefan (Paul Wesley) would be crossing over from The Vampire Diaries to The Originals in an upcoming episode. And, more specifically, we wanted to know how Caroline (Candice Accola) would come into the conversation with Klaus (Joseph Morgan).
“We were going to have a Klaroline scene and then we just decided the script was getting too long, so we just cut it out,” Dries explained.
Wait… what?
“Just kidding,” Dries said with a laugh.
I mean, she did actually say that. And totally got me, which was awesome. But she was, thankfully, just joking.
And I’m the sucker who let out a long, disappointed, “Nooooooo,” on behalf of all you Klaroline fans out there.

But the truth is that with Stefan’s crossover to The Originals, he and Klaus will very much be discussing Caroline. And in a big scene, too, by the sounds of it.
“We knew we wanted to see Joseph [Morgan] and Paul Wesley on screen because they’ve had the longest history on the show. You know, maybe apart from Elijah and Katherine. And now they have some interesting conversations over some bourbon,” Dries teased.
Interesting conversation because they’ve now both slept with the same girl — that girl being the one Klaus said was his end game.
Can’t you just hear that bourbon glass breaking in his hand already? Especially when he finds out she’s pregnant with Alaric’s twins!
Dries said Klaus will react “in a very Klaus-like way.”
Yes!
“Stefan is forced into exile because of his story, which won’t be for a few more episodes. But he ends up going to New Orleans for protection and, you know, when you’re in New Orleans it’s a city of, like, 10 people, so of course you’re going to run into your mortal enemy, immortal enemy and best friend,” Dries explained with a laugh. “So it’s a pretty interesting story that starts in The Vampire Diaries and successfully transitions into The Originals seamlessly.”

And by seamlessly, she means they made the plot work out. Because The Originals‘ executive producer Michael Narducci added that in the storyline, his jump to New Orleans might not be so simple at all.
