Giudice’s book is set to be released on Feb. 9, but in the meantime, new excerpts obtained by the New York Daily News provide new details about what readers can expect.
Giudice’s description of her last night at home is particularly heart-wrenching. Before reporting to the minimum security Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut, on Jan. 5 of last year, Giudice had to say a hard goodbye to her family, which included celebrating her oldest daughter Gia’s 14th birthday early, since she would be incarcerated on Gia’s actual birthday.
Once the birthday celebration was over, Giudice, her husband and their four daughters lay in bed together, and Giudice told the girls, “Mommy has to leave,” watching them burst into hysterical tears. One of Giudice’s daughters couldn’t breathe, she was crying so hard, and soon, Giudice and her husband were crying, too.

Though Giudice and her husband had told their younger daughters that Giudice was going away for work reasons, she reveals in her book that when they put Miliana to bed, she told Giudice, “I hate that this is happening to you.”
Then Giudice and her husband, who had been crying in the kitchen downstairs, joined Gia in her room where the three of them silently held each other. Giudice described the whole experience of saying goodbye to her family on that last night as “deeply traumatizing.”
Before reporting to the prison at around 3 a.m., Giudice removed her hair extensions and spent time with her husband, Joe, who gave her a rosary and Catholic medals of St. Christopher and St. Teresa as gifts. After the couple said “I love you” to each other, Giudice left with her lawyer and security guard to report for her sentence.
