If there’s one person we can count on to trump Trump’s ridiculous comments, it’s Sarah Palin. The former politician threw Matt Lauer some serious shade on her Today show appearance this morning after Lauer and Savannah Guthrie asked about her recent claims that Obama is to blame for “some of the PTSD that’s out there” — including her son’s.
Before Guthrie could even ask the question of whether or not Palin regrets blaming the president, the former governor was already defensive, claiming she never said any of that. Why people still think they can refute something they said when YouTube exists is beyond me. But Palin did, and adamantly.

She continued to dodge the question by saying, “You guys brought me here to talk about Iowa politics tonight and the caucus, not to talk about my kids. And that was a promise.”
But the real shade came when she passively mentioned, “But as things go in the world of media, you guys don’t always keep your promises.”
I think this is the part where we were supposed to feel sorry for her.

What Palin meant by her previous comments was that President Obama has “a level of disrespect for the United States military that is made manifest by gutting budgets and not trying to beef it up and allow our military to do the job they are trained to do.”
So for everyone keeping score, Palin did not say that President Obama is responsible for her son’s PTSD, but she did say that he disrespects our military. And that is somehow better in her crazy logic.

Lauer, never one to back down from awkward on-air moments, did clarify to everyone watching and Palin herself that there was never a promise that the hosts wouldn’t bring up her son’s arrest or the comments she made about the president. To which Palin blabbered something about being excited to see who puts America back on the right track.
All in all, the segment was uncomfortable, entertaining and another example of why Palin should only make scripted appearances.
