“Maternal” probably isn’t the first word that comes to mind when you think of Lisa Vanderpump.
If you’re familiar with her appearances on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hillsand Vanderpump Rules, Vanderpump tends to play down her sweeter side. But she has one, as evidenced by her throwback photo with her son Max, now 24.

It’s obvious from her big smile just how happy she is to be with her son (and from her ’90s bangs just how old the photo is!).

As The Daily Mail recounts, Lisa and her husband Ken Todd adopted Max in 1992 when he was only 6 weeks old. The decision to embark on a public life with RHOBH was difficult, as she feared Max’s biological parents would come forward. Max himself works at Sur, the restaurant featured on Vanderpump Rules, and is a cast member on the show.

In other recent Vanderpump news, Lisa recently spoke to The Dodo about her organization Stop Yulin Forever, which works to stop the consumption of dog meat and specifically against the dog meat festival in Yulin, China. She told the site, “Last year I saw some horrific images on Twitter. I knew I couldn’t rest without doing something constructive to stop this, to end these horrendous acts. I have an understanding that different cultures eat different animals… however, this ‘festival,’ as they call it, is largely about torturing dogs… many believe that the torture stimulates the adrenaline that makes the meat more tender.” There’s more to Lisa Vanderpump than dinner parties and drama at Sur, and we love this side of her.
