Gwen Stefani’s Grammys performance takes aim at pesky romance rumors

What do you do when you are a huge recording artist and you score some sweet airtime for a music video/Target ad during music’s biggest night of the year? You make like Gwen Stefani and seize the opportunity to poke some fun at the media circus that surrounds your romantic relationship.

Buzz that Stefani was involved with fellow The Voice judge, Blake Shelton, started last October, and the rumors since then have pretty much been constant. From pregnancy gossip to feuds with their newly divorced exes and back to tales of Shelton spending the holidays with Stefani’s children, talk about the new relationship has been all over the place.

So, naturally, Stefani found a couple of ways to make Shelton’s presence known in her flashy live music video for her song “Make Me Like You,” filmed for the 2016 Grammys and sponsored by Target.

At one point, the video showed Stefani reading a fictional tabloid with herself on the cover with the headline, “Gwen pregnant with alien baby!”

Now, we haven’t heard any rumors that Stefani is pregnant with an alien baby — yet — but there has been plenty of talk that she and Shelton are expecting.

“With the addition of a girl, Gwen will finally feel complete,” an “inside source” told In Touch Weekly in January, adding, “Blake is going to spoil her like crazy. Whatever she wants, she will get. He’s so generous with his siblings and nieces and nephews, you can only imagine what he’ll be like with his own little girl. She will have Blake wrapped around her little finger.”

More subtly, Stefani gave a shout-out to Shelton in a scene of the video where she is dancing in front of a bar that has a neon sign that reads “Blake’s” in the background.

If that’s not a declaration of love, we don’t know what is.

Are Stefani’s nods to Shelton a sign that their love is for real? They werereportedly packing on the PDA on Valentine’s Day.
