Bringing Up Bates stars Erin Bates and husband Chad Paine have some very exciting news to share about their growing family.

This Valentine’s Day was not just a typical celebration of love for Erin and Chad, because, as they revealed to SheKnows, they were able to tell the rest of the Bates family that they are expecting baby No. 2, which made their day “extra special.”
“And without a doubt this is definitely the biggest surprise for us this year so far,” Chad said, a statement to which his beautiful wife Erin agreed, adding that “it was a good surprise,” and the couple are “looking forward to meeting our little one in the summer.”
But how did the Bates family react to Chad and Erin’s news?
“Chad and I wanted to surprise everyone on Valentine’s Day with our baby news, which meant we had to keep our news a secret for several weeks,” Erin told SheKnows. “In my family, keeping secrets is almost impossible! My family was completely and utterly shocked! With all of the previous trouble we had with miscarriages and pregnancy, I think they thought Chad and I would be the last married couple to announce baby news! It should come as no surprise that God’s plans are always better than mine, but in this case, the shock factor was very present!”
Baby No. 2 will be a sibling of their first child, Charles Stephen IV, or Carson, who was born on May 15, 2015.

Since marrying in November 2013, Erin and Chad have been excited to become parents, but their journey into parenthood did not have an easy start. Erin suffered from multiple miscarriages before she finally became pregnant with her son.
But now that they are parents, they certainly appear to be doting ones. Their Instagram (they have a joint account that is adorable) is littered with sweet pictures and tender moments they share with their son.
Erin previously gushed about her excitement for motherhood, and how she thought Chad would make a “great daddy” during an interview with People magazine.
“Chad’s going to make the best daddy. He loves children, and he invests so much in people,” she said. “I’m scared, you know — being a mommy is such a hard responsibility. … It’s something new. It’s something different. The most important thing is that your child knows you love them no matter what, and my mom does a great job with us.”

Luckily for Erin, her own parents were wonderful, and they have inspired her parenting style.
“We all felt like it wasn’t just a parent-child relationship,” Erin said of her own family growing up. “We were best friends. That’s the way I want it to be with our little baby, so it’s a hard responsibility. There’s a lot that goes into it and a lot of sacrifice. But I think it is so worth it in the long run.”
