The Bachelor‘s Ben Higgins reportedly didn’t choose his winning lady

They say that if you want to know how a man is going to treat you, look at his relationship with his mom. So if this new rumor about Ben Higgins is true, then it seems like he really knows when to value a woman’s word.

According to Life & Style Weekly, Higgins’ mother, Amy Higgins, played a crucial role in his final decision on The Bachelor.

“Amy thought one girl would be a better fit. Of course, that’s the one he proposed to,” a reported insider told the outlet.

The insider added, “He always thinks she knows best. He asks his mom for advice on everything.”

Uh, smart boy!

And his mother clearly has Higgins’ best interest at heart.

We saw last week, during his date with Emily Ferguson, that Higgins’ mom got emotional when explaining to her son that Ferguson might not be the best fit, not because she wasn’t a nice girl, but because she wasn’t at the maturity level in her life to be ready to settle down.

Higgins sent Ferguson packing immediately at the end of the date.

Life & Style also reports that the day after Higgins proposed to his winning lady, his parents posted a photo showing them toasting with wine and beaming happily.

But Higgins’ path to a proposal is apparently the most brutal one in The Bachelor history. In fact, the rumors swirling about the heartbreak are so intense, I’m wondering if Higgins will be pulling a Mesnick and changing his mind about who he wants to marry. (Bachelor Jason Mesnick infamously dumped Melissa Rycroft on the After the Final Rose special and asked his runner-up, Molly Malaney, to give him another shot. Mesnick and Malaney have now been happily married for six years.)

Whatever Higgins’ path to happily ever after ends up being, here’s hoping he finds his happiness in the end.

Do you think Higgins will change his mind in the finale?
