With all of the bold glitz and glamour behind Gwen Stefani and her brand, you would never expect her to get shy. But that’s exactly what happened recently when Stefani was interviewed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Stefani isn’t afraid to make her opinion known on The Voice, but DeGeneres discovered on Thursday that grilling Stefani about her boyfriend, Blake Shelton, and how he popped the big question is all it takes to make her clam up.
“So when he popped the big question,” said DeGeneres, with a dramatic pause before continuing, “About you being his mentor, um, how did he do that?”

DeGeneres’ tricky phrasing of the would-be simple question rendered Stefani momentarily speechless — and giggling — before she fired back, “Did you rehearse that before?”
After DeGeneres admitted that she had, indeed, rehearsed her delivery, Stefani went on to sing her praises of The Voice and how much she loves working on the show.
“I want to be on that show as much as possible,” she said.
The pop-the-question phrasing was especially funny coming from DeGeneres, since earlier in the conversation, Stefani playfully made it known she would like to talk about other things besides her love life.
“I thought it would be a good idea not to talk about Blake,” Stefani said as DeGeneres splashed photos of Stefani and Shelton getting extremely close across a huge screen in the studio. “To see what would happen.”

“Let’s just look at pictures then,” DeGeneres quickly replied as a pic of Stefani sitting on Shelton’s lap appeared on the screen. “They didn’t have enough chairs at that event? You had to sit on Blake’s lap?”
Stefani is adorable at playing coy, but, judging by her live video performance of “Make Me Like You” during the Grammys, we know she knows that we all know she and Shelton are hot and heavy.
