Who would have guessed that of all the stars of The O.C. it would be Mischa Barton who ended up on Dancing with the Stars first? Definitely not me. But it was announced Wednesday that the actress will join the pack of hopefuls looking to win the coveted mirror ball trophy.
This is the 22nd season of the super-popular dancing competition, and perhaps the best one if it’s good enough for Marissa Cooper. Barton, 30, may be best known for her role on The O.C., but she also had roles in Notting Hill and The Sixth Sense as a child. None of these roles including dancing, however, so it will be interesting to see her skills.

Other celebrities confirmed for the upcoming season of DWTS include Fuller House star Jodie Sweetin and The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member Kim Fields. Unfortunately, there will be notable absences in this season as well. Six-time champion and fan-favorite Derek Hough will skip this season in order to train for his role in the upcoming Broadway musical Singing in the Rain. His sister, Julianne Hough, who has served as a judge on the past few seasons will also be missing this season. But Len Goodman, who didn’t judge last season, will return. So all is not lost.

The entire cast of Dancing with the Stars Season 22 will be revealed on Good Morning America on March 8.
But what we should all focus on now is how we can get an official O.C. reunion. There has to be a way to have Ryan and his famous grey hoodie in the audience or on the dance floor. I’m not the only one who thinks this, right?
