Many thought Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton‘s relationship was merely a rebound and that it wouldn’t last, but it’s still going strong, and the pair recently made their adorable first public debut as a couple at the 88th Academy Awards.

Expecting the romance to initially fail is really not all that surprising, given that Shelton and Stefani both went through a tough time before they hooked up: Shelton and Miranda Lambert divorced, and Stefani’s former husband, Gavin Rossdale, is believed to have cheated on her with the family nanny.
However, the fact that the couple have made it work, despite the odds, is perhaps a testament to the strength of their relationship.
Plus, they’ve both helped each other remain positive during a dark time in their lives.
“She was heartbroken for her children that the marriage wasn’t going to work,” an insider told People magazine of Stefani’s mind-set post-divorce. “She tried so hard for the kids to keep the marriage together. Then here came this ray of sunshine who did make her smile, and now he’s one of the most positive people in her life.”

“They’re both very happy, fun people,” said the insider. “They have the same perspective on life, and there’s a sense of adventure.”

Shelton and Stefani are so happy together that their emotional pasts don’t even factor into their lives anymore. As the insider reveals, they are both focused on the positive, adding, “They have turned lemons into lemonade and have turned a bad situation for both of them into something great. They’re both much happier.”
We’re so glad this is one Hollywood romance that really seems to be working out because Stefani and Shelton are adorable together.
