Several celebrities are threatening to move to Canada if Trump wins

Canada may just get its own version of the Hollywood Hills, because American celebrities have been announcing plans to move to Canada if Trump wins the election.

Several celebs are threatening to leave the country if Trump wins. Both Cher and Jon Stewart even threatened to leave planet Earth if Trump wins.

And you know things have gotten bad when civil rights leader Al Sharpton announces that he’s reserving his “ticket to get out of here” if the election doesn’t go as he hopes. Sharpton added, at a Center for American Progress Action Fund event, that Trump would “probably have me deported anyhow.” And Miley Cyrus vowed to leave as well in an emotional rant on Instagram, writing that she’d move out of the country if the controversial billionaire became president of the Unites States.

A number of celebrities planning an exodus have their hearts set on Canada.

Raven-Simonè

Raven-Symonè is preparing for her worst-case scenario. She said on TheView that she’s already bought her ticket to Canada and will flee there “if any Republican becomes president.” She seemed unconcerned that she wasn’t a Canadian citizen, saying that she’d just “figure that out” later.

After getting mad at Trump on The View for slamming Canada, Raven-Simonè’s co-host Whoopi Goldberg said, “Maybe it’s time for me to move.”

Chloë Sevigny

Chloë Sevigny told TheScene that she’d move to Nova Scotia rather than live in Trump’s America. It would give me endless joy if I ran into Sevigny getting late-night Donair on Halifax’s Pizza Corner, but I’m not holding my breath.

Jurnee Smollett

American actress Jurnee Smollett toldTheScene she was “definitely moving to Canada” if Trump ran the country. Smollett’s been in a bunch of great shows ranging from True Blood to Friday Night Lights, so we love that Canada’s her escape plan (and we would love to see her on Canadian TV!).

Neve Campbell

The only silver lining I can really find in Trump becoming the leader of the American people (a scary thought!) is that his win might prove so offensive to some Canadian talent that they come back home. Canadian actress Neve Campbell told the HuffingtonPost that she’d move back to Canada in the case of a Trump win.

Other destinations for celebs fleeing Trump

While some celebs have other Trump-won-and-it’s-the-end-of-the-world destinations in mind — like Samuel L. Jackson, who said he’s moving to South Africa, and Chelsea Handler, who said she’d flee to Spain — Canada is a popular choice this election.

Other celebrities are promising more drastic action. Orange Is the New Black actress Natasha Lyonne joked in a video for The Scenethat she’d go “straight to hell” or “a mental hospital for a while” if she had to deal with a President Trump. We honestly can’t say we blame her.
