Once Upon a Time‘s Robin Hood might not make it out of the Underworld

Finally, after much too long of a break, Once Upon a Time is back, better and bigger than ever. During Sunday’s 100th episode, Emma, Snow, Charming, Regina, Henry, Robin and Rumple entered the Underworld and found several surprises along the way.

In addition to the return of many familiar faces, introducing the terrifying Hades for the first time, and still having no clue of Hook’s whereabouts, the episode presented something very worrisome. Ever since it was announced that OUAT would be heading to the Underworld, I’m sure many have suspected that someone might not return to Storybrooke.

If you recall, in the episode prior to the 100th, “Swan Song,” after Emma told her friends and family she wanted to go to the Underworld to save Hook (by finding him and giving him half her heart), Charming said that in order to get Hook back someone would have to die.

Then, during “Souls of the Departed,” upon a not-so-loving reunion between Peter Pan and Rumple, Peter told his son that he hates the Underworld and wants to come back to the land of the living. However, the only way he can do that is by trading places with a living soul. If that doesn’t say foreshadowing, I don’t know what does.

For some time now, Oncers have been worried for Robin Hood’s fate. Apparently, there have also been rumors that Sean Maguire, the man behind Regina’s one true love, is leaving the series. So, does that mean Peter will swap souls with Robin? Or, worse, Robin will be the one who dies in order to save Hook? TV Line asked Maguire about his alleged departure, and, of course, he didn’t really give an outright answer.

“We’re going to the Underworld, so I don’t expect much good stuff is going to happen! But as to where it’s going to lead [for Robin], I can’t say,” he said. “There are obstacles everywhere — a lot of bad people from the past are coming back and they are not too happy with our heroes. If Once Upon a Time was the Star Wars franchise, this would be Empire Strikes Back. It’s going to get dark, it’s going to be scary, and there will be surprises.”

What the heck does that mean? Are dark times ahead for Robin? Here’s hoping Robin doesn’t get stuck behind in the Underworld and leave the series for good. Not only would I hate that for the character I adore so much, but let’s also think about Regina.

Isn’t Robin supposed to be her “soulmate”? She’s already been through so much when it comes to love, not to mention she’s worked extremely hard to become a better person. The last thing she deserves is to have something horrible happen to Robin. With that, Oncers, keep your fingers crossed that only good things are ahead for both Robin and Regina.
