At the Oscars, after Smith and her husband were one of a number of stars to boycott the ceremony because of the small number of black nominees for awards, Rock, who was hosting the event, called them out for their views.
“What happened this year? People went nuts. Spike [Lee] got mad. Jada went mad. Will went mad. Everyone went mad!” Rock said. “Jada said she’s not coming. I was like, ‘Isn’t she on a TV show?’ Jada’s gonna boycott the Oscars? Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna’s panties — I wasn’t invited!”
He continued, “Her man Will was not nominated for Concussion. I get it. You get mad. It’s not fair that Will was this good and didn’t get nominated. You’re right. It’s also not fair that Will was paid $20 million for Wild Wild West!”

But Smith didn’t appear to be bothered by Rock’s comments. In an interview with x17online this week, she said it was just part of her job as a public figure.
“It comes with the territory, sweetheart,” she said. “We’ve got to keep it moving. There’s a lot of stuff we’ve got to handle, a lot of stuff in our world right now. We’ve got to keep it moving.”
Her husband, Will Smith, also shook off Rock’s jabs — he was seen smiling with fans, taking pictures and signing autographs in New York City the day after he and his wife skipped the Oscars.
