Hugh Hefner’s wife, Crystal, dropped the news today that she has been diagnosed with Lyme disease. She recently found out about her illness, but she is not wasting any time telling her 2.8 million Instagram followers how to protect themselves.
“If you have EVER GONE HIKING, please get tested for #LymeDisease. The best lab to do this is called ‘Igenex’ they are based out of Palo Alto. I was diagnosed a few days ago and have a long road ahead of me,” Hefner, 29, captioned her post.

The Playboy playmate also added that she could not remember exactly when she was bitten. She wrote, “Supposedly you get it from ticks but I have absolutely no recollection of being bit (sic) or having a rash or ANYTHING. Most importantly there are SO MANY of you carrying Lyme that don’t even know you have it. Probably because the ticks can be the size of specs.”

Hefner went a step further to help her fans by listing off warning signs of this disease. She wrote, “Symptoms can range from sore muscles, sore back, sore neck, anxiety, fatigue, heart palpitations, muscle twitches, bladder pain, vision or hearing problems, swollen lymph nodes, flu like symptoms, brain fog, memory problems. Having just one of these could mean you have Lyme. Please please get tested.”
Hefner is another in the seemingly growing list of celebrities who have been diagnosed with Lyme disease. I really respect Hefner for wanting to start spreading the message about symptoms and preventative actions as early as possible. Especially with hiking season approaching many areas across the U.S and beyond, it’s even more important to stay safe and always check for ticks.
