The new trailer for the first full season of the spinoff series Jill and Jessa: Counting On gives viewers glimpses into much of what they can expect when the Duggars make their return to TV. One of those? Jill and her husband Derick Dillard, and the potentially dangerous lives they lead as missionaries in Central America.
The new trailer shows the couple settling into their new lives with their son Spurgeon. But it also shows how worried the other Duggars can be about the conditions in the countries where Jill and Derick are spending their time.
“We miss Jill and Derick a whole lot, and it’s even more difficult, I feel, knowing that it’s not very safe. And it’s dangerous in the countries where they’re serving,” Jessa confesses to the camera, before Joy Anna adds, “There were quite a few days when we just wouldn’t hear from them. There are so many things that could go wrong.”

For fans who have been wondering what Anna Duggar has been up to, following a year of scandals of which her husband, Josh Duggar, was the center, the new series may provide some insight. Anna has been keeping largely to herself since Josh admitted to molesting several of his sisters as a teenager, forcing the cancellation of the family’s TV show 19 Kids and Counting, and then checked into rehab following revelations that he had cheated on his wife multiple times with an Ashley Madison account.
“I don’t know what I’m stepping into,” an emotional-looking Anna tells the camera. “I don’t know how to handle each situation. It’s not anything I ever would have thought I would walk through. [I tell myself:] Just do the next right thing, have the next right response for the next 15 minutes.”
