The Duggar family is back on the press circuit as they prep for the season premiere of Jill & Jessa: Counting On, and they’re finally opening up to the public about Josh.
In an interview with People, the family shares their mixed feelings on their scandalized brother. Perhaps unsurprisingly, he’s been forgiven — but that doesn’t mean he will be accepted back into the family with open arms.
The family motto seems to be forgive but don’t let your guard down. Jessa Duggar-Seewald told People, “I definitely have forgiven Josh. It is a process, though, that you have to work through in your heart.” Part of that process hasn’t yet included trust — a key aspect, one would imagine, for living and working with someone who has molested you or members of your family. She continues, “And trust is not quickly rebuilt. It is something that takes a while. We love him very much, though, and we are very hopeful for the future.”

Sister Joy’s comment is along the same lines: “I have forgiven him and I feel that, but the trust is not there.” Jessa’s husband Ben Seewald is even more politically correct, saying, “I love Josh and I want the best for him. There are a lot of people who have been hurt in this situation. I want to look for ways to help heal the situation for Josh and for Anna and their kids especially.”

The first full season of Jill & Jessa: Counting On will reportedly follow the Duggar-Dillards throughout their time in Central America, as well as checking in with the rest of the clan.
