According to Us Weekly, Joey was buried in a simple wooden casket crafted by a farmhand, and the private funeral was set to take place on March 8, on the family’s Tennessee farm. Three days before her burial, all those who loved her came out for a candlelight service in her hometown of Alexandria, Indiana.
Speaking of the service, family friend and singer-songwriter Bill Gaither told the publication that “it was amazing.” He added, “The whole community was out holding candles, holding signs of Joey. It really brought everyone together.”
Gaither also reflected on the life that Feek had lived, saying, “She had a special spirit about her.”

Joey will be missed by many, and although her funeral and burial were kept private, a report in the Indy Star revealed that a public memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 13 — which will serve as a chance for the public to say their goodbyes.
“A public memorial service will be held Sunday, March 13, at 2:30 p.m., in the Alexandria-Monroe High School gymnasium,” the publication said, adding, “The service will be hosted by Bill and Gloria Gaither, gospel musicians and family friends of [the] Feeks.”
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent to Joey and Indy at P.O. Box 5471 Vancouver, Washington, 98668.
