The gooey green slime wasn’t the only mess that needed cleaning up after the Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday. Zendaya found herself in a Twitter feud after winning an orange blimp when comedy actress and writer Julie Klausner took aim at the 19-year-old actress and singer in a series of body shaming tweets.
Zendaya gave an eloquent and inspiring speech after winning Favorite Female TV Stars – Kids’ Show for her role on Disney Channel’s K.C. Undercover.

“This means so, so much to me. I’ve been doing this for a long time, and I do it for you guys. I just want you to know that doing and making positive programming for young people is so important to me, and I will keep doing it. To all the parents out there, thank you for allowing me to be a role model for your children,” Zendaya said on stage. “I really, really do not take that for granted.”
Shortly after, Klausner, who created and stars in the Hulu series, Difficult People, retweeted a photo of Zendaya accepting her award, calling the actress, a “thinspo model for your impressionable tweens.” Yikes.
“Zendaya’s ultimate retort to Giuliana Rancic is starving herself down to the size of one of her elbowz,” Klausner continued. “You don’t have to have an eating disorder to attend the Kids’ Choice Awards….but it helps!”

After last year’s Fashion Police incident with Rancic, Zendaya is no stranger to red carpet drama. The actress tweeted back on Saturday night, “Do you find this funny? I will write another paragraph to educate you as well #youreallywannabenext?”
Sunday morning, Klausner responded to Zendaya’s tweet, saying, “Can’t wait.”
Wow. The shade is way too real on this one.
“I will never stop criticizing celebs who perpetuate dangerous beauty standards for a generation of girls who grow up thinking they’re fat,” Klausner continued on Twitter. “I’m concerned with the generation of girls who aspire to look like Zendaya. I do not worry about Zendaya’s health or care whether she eats.”

Klausner went on to respond to various Zendaya fans and other Twitters users. After way too many tweets to mention, Klausner finally said, “For those who have spoken to me respectfully about post-racialist bias…. I won’t apologize, non-apologize, delete tweets, backpedal or refuse to own my s***. BUT- I will be more thoughtful going forward. /end.”
Zendaya has yet to post any further response to Klausner, but honestly, we wouldn’t mind reading that educational paragraph! Zendaya has already proved she is a smart young woman. Plus, body shaming is never OK.
