After sparking a social media firestorm after some celebs accused her of slut-shaming Kim Kardashian, Moretz is still standing by what she said.
“All I’ll say is that I think a lot of things can be misconstrued in a lot of ways,” she explained in a new interview with Elle.
Moretz came under fire when she responded to Kardashian’s now-infamous “nothing to wear” nude selfie last week, writing on Twitter, “@KimKardashian I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than just our bodies.”

Kardashian fired back, tweeting, “Let’s all welcome @ChloeGMoretz to twitter, since no one knows who she is. your nylon cover is cute boo.”

Moretz denied slut-shaming Kardashian right away, and now she’s saying the people who have criticized her are missing the bigger picture.
“I think if people open their minds more, and they try to look deeper into something than just something that is a very big, hot, fiery button to hide behind,” she said, “I think if people looked into something bigger that I was trying to speak upon, they wouldn’t be so easy to fire back silly, miscellaneous things.”
The feud caused a number of other celebs to take sides, including several who tweeted their own naked pictures in support of Kardashian and a woman’s right to do with her own body what she chooses to.
“There’s a huge difference in respecting the platform that you’re given as a celebrity and ‘slut shaming’ something I never have done and would never do,” Moretz tweeted in response to the backlash.
