James Kennedy might not be the bad boy everyone makes him out to be.

In an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Lisa Vanderpump defended her British busboy, saying she worried that her show, Vanderpump Rules, may have unfairly painted him as a villain.
“I think he’s been through an incredibly difficult journey,” she told host Andy Cohen.
Kennedy — who has been undergoing therapy, Vanderpump revealed — was at the center of most of the drama in the show’s recently concluded season. He was part of a cheating love triangle and, in the finale, the way he spoke with the women on the show caused a physical altercation with Jax Taylor.

“I think sometimes on the show — although the show is a very accurate portrayal of what they do and what they’re up to — I don’t think we’ve ever really had the full picture of James,” Vanderpump said. “There’s a lot more of a sensitive side to him, and I think you see a lot of his bravado and his attitude.”
She also revealed that she had had him over for dinner to make sure he was OK in the aftermath of the show.
“I wanted to check in with him — he’s really been undergoing some intense therapy,” she explained, and then laughed and added, “He probably needs electric shock treatment.”
Vanderpump also talked about the finale, including what she thought of Tom Sandoval’s performance of his song “T.I.P.”
“That was a bit scary. Maybe I’m not getting it,” she admitted. “Maybe if it’s too loud I’m just too old, but I’m looking at them thinking, ‘Are they from another planet?’ I mean, what was that?”
