Drake shows off his whiskey brand Virginia Black — and fans are loving it

Drake has a new product that (if it lives up to the hype) may be good enough to convert non-whiskey drinkers.

Taking to Instagram on Friday, Drake shared a first look at his latest venture, Virginia Black Whiskey, and fans have reacted to the news with great excitement.

Comments on the post include one from catherinebelle, who mused, “drakes making whiskey. I may actually try this kind.”

“I drink whiskey now,” limorthemerrier shared.

“Ill buy it just to get the bottle signed by him,” lovelyddd95 wrote.

There’s been a build-up to the launch of this whiskey, which is packaged in a classy gold bottle, complete with gold and black labelling, but unfortunately there is not much news surrounding the product just yet — much to the disappointment of fans who have been eagerly asking for information.

Drake teased us on Instagram four weeks ago, providing only the email address for contact, but it looks as though he is promoting it as a premium product. He captioned the image with, “After that legendary moment what else is there to do but celebrate with class. Virginia Black coming soon…”

Drake is expanding his empire and following the long list of rappers who have alcohol brands, including Jay Z, who owns Armand de Brignac Ace of Spades Champagne; Ludacris, who has his own cognac brand, Conjure; and Nicki Minaj, who has MYX Fusion, a range of wine blended with fruit. But he’s no rookie when it comes to the food industry, as he launched swanky restaurant Frings Toronto in conjunction with famed Canadian chef Susur Lee, so we expect it to be something that he is incredibly passionate about and has put thought into.

We’re not sure if the whiskey will even be Canadian (as the choice of name may suggest otherwise), but according to Bloomberg, Canadian whiskey is much better than the average person thinks and includes such prestigious brands as John Hall’s Forty Creek Whisky, Caribou Crossing and Royal Canadian.

The publication states that the best ones contain hints of “maple, stone fruit, and lively baking spice long after the liquid has gone down the gullet.” Let’s see what Drake’s tastes like!
