During his acceptance speech Boyega gave a shout out to director J.J. Abrams saying, “J.J., I’ve made it now, don’t ever put me through a 7 month process again.”

Daisy said it was “an amazing time to be a woman in film” as she accepted her award.

And it was clear how much the honour meant to the two rising stars as they couldn’t stop kissing their awards.

Resulting in much hilarity and superb photo opps.

These guys are just too cute.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens also took home the awards for Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy and Best Visual Effects and J.J. Abrams was awarded Best Director.

Other winners on the night were Matt Damon, who scooped Best Actor for The Martian, and Alicia Vikander, who won Best Actress for The Danish Girl.

Spectre won the awards for Best Thriller and Best British Film and the late Alan Rickman was named Empire Legend.
