Katy Perry and Dolly Parton teamed up at the Academy of Country Music Awards held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday night, and it was undoubtedly one of the most memorable moments of the awards show.

Taking to the stage in a very colorful getup, Perry was joined by her musical idol and “personal hero,” Parton, and it was not just the cowboy boots and sparkles that grabbed everyone’s attention, but also the powerful performances of some of Parton’s greatest hits: “Coat of Many Colors,” “Jolene” and “9 to 5.”

But it wasn’t just Perry who was “out dreaming her dreams” with the performance. Nope, she and Parton successfully made a lot of fans’ dreams come true, too — and they took to Twitter to share their excitement.

The duet was an unmissable event for fans as two influential women from different generations joined forces to deliver something creative and inspiring.

Perry certainly held her own up on stage, and the two singers absolutely delivered. Their performance was a mixture of emotion, fun and electricity, and while it’s the first time the duo has shared a stage, we already hope it isn’t the last.

Perry previously tweeted ahead of her performance about how her prayers had been answered — and the buildup excitement to the performance was worth the wait.

It was a big night for Parton, who was also presented (by Perry) with the Tex Ritter Award, for producing and narrating the Coat of Many Colors, the NBC TV movie that was based on Parton’s childhood.
