Michelle Rodriguez says she’s jealous of Paul Walker’s death… what?!

Michelle Rodriguez recently opened up about the ways that Paul Walker’s tragic death affected her. Like every one of her Fast and Furious castmates, Walker’s death caused incredible sadness in her life. But unlike her cast members, or any normal person for that matter, Rodriguez also claimed that Walker’s death made her feel jealous, too.

In a clip from the new documentary The Reality of Truth, Rodriguez said, “I did everything I could possibly do to hide from myself. And I’ll tell you that my ayahuasca trip made me sad that he left me here. It wasn’t a sadness that he’s gone. It was more like a jealousy that he’s there first.”

This is one of those moments when you hope she was misquoted. Unfortunately, I think she’s just self-centered and a little strange.

Ayahuasca is a hallucinogenic brew that supposedly connects you with your deep subconscious and reveals a truth to you that you may not have been aware of before. It is totally possible that while on it Rodriguez saw where her friend was and wanted to join him, but she certainly shouldn’t say that out loud to anyone. And definitely not if that person is holding a camera.

Neither Walker’s daughter, Meadow Rain, nor his family has commented on Rodriguez’s statement yet. With any luck, they haven’t reacted because they haven’t heard about it. They lost their father, son and brother. Listening to Rodriguez say she’s jealous that he gets to die before her is not something they need to go through, no matter how much time has passed.

Hopefully, Rodriguez takes this as a learning opportunity and is more careful the next time she’s talking about her late friend or anyone who has died.
