Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna caused a lot of chaos today when they announced their engagement. And just as everyone expected, Twitter exploded with jokes and commentary on their relationship, as well as Kylie Jenner’s relationship with Tyga. The general sentiment was how Blac Chyna would explain to her son that Tyga is both his dad and possibly his uncle, should things work out between him and Jenner.

I have to admit, even I laughed at that predicament.
But then Tyga started tweeting his thoughts about the entire ordeal and I immediately felt bad for joining in, even if just for a laugh, because he was exactly right. And I have to say, I was surprised at how well he handled the entire thing. It was more mature and open-minded than I expected from him.
He started by saying, “It makes me happy to see the mother of my son happy. My only concern in this situation is my son. I want him in happy environments. He’s innocent in this. & I want him to feel as much love as possible.”

It really struck me that he boiled the entire thing down to a happy environment for his son, King Cairo. There are a lot of people who are caught up in the drama of the two separate relationships and what it might mean for the families. But hearing Tyga’s perspective, you remember that it’s just two parents who found loving, happy relationships — something they couldn’t find with each other. And what more could a parent really want for their child than to grow up learning love, happiness and respect for other people, even if you couldn’t make a relationship work with them?
And that was basically Tyga’s entire message to all of us. He tweeted, “Everybody deserves 2 be happy. What some1 does for their happiness is not my concern, as long as it’s not interfering wit my happiness.”

We could all take a small lesson from Tyga today in just accepting what makes someone else happy rather than immediately jumping to what makes it awkward or wrong or bad.
I will note, however, that nowhere in his Twitter rant did the rapper wish the happy couple well, so he’s not totally better than us in every way. Either way, his son has a great mentor in his father and that’s really great.
