Back in February, Melissa McCarthy said she wouldn’t be part of theGilmore Girlsrevival because she wasn’t asked to return. Well, forget about all of that drama and who may or may not have asked who, because it’s happening, people. McCarthy is reprising her role as Sookie St. James!

TV Line first broke the news Thursday, in addition McCarthy confirming the thrilling news while appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. She told Ellen DeGeneres, “Literally about an hour and half ago, we figured out that I’m gonna go back and do it and I am so excited. And they are gonna be amazing.” McCarthy continued, “[Creator] Amy Sherman-Palladino is going to squeeze me in to do it and I’m very happy to go back to Stars Hollow.”

It’s such a relief to know that Sookie will be part of the Netflix revival. So far, it’s unclear how many episodes she’ll appear in (probably only one) or if she’ll share a scene with Lorelai (fingers crossed), but let’s not worry about that right now. It’s important to focus on the fact that Sookie will be back.
I’m sure my fellow GG fans haven’t stopped rejoicing since hearing the news. You know who else is beyond thrilled? Lauren Graham. She took to Twitter Thursday to express her excitement about her on-screen BFF’s return. Check it out.
Yay, Sookie! This makes me so so happy. Let's all go see @TheBossFilm this weekend to celebrate. https://t.co/6JBwkhRajf

Like Graham, Yanic Truesdale (he plays Michel) also tweeted about the news. He wrote, “The only member of the family missing is coming back! So thrilled!!”

It really is wonderful to know that the cast adores McCarthy and Sookie as much as the show’s fans do. Now, here’s hoping Sookie, Lorelai and Michel all share a scene together, because I really need to see my Dragonfly Inn loves back together again.
