I’m addicted to watching The Real Housewives of Anywhere. I love the fact that these ladies get drunk and go ballistic on each other. But while I was watching the most recent episode of RHONY, I got a little nervous about my future.

At the beginning of every lunch these ladies attend, the conversation starts with some variation of the question, “When was the last time you talked to this person?” And I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that. I’ve definitely had those conversations. But I guess I was hoping that by the time I’m in my late 40s, I would have left that kind of drama behind.
The real scary moment was when Carole Radziwill said her and LuAnn de Lesseps’ friendship is irreparable at this point because de Lesseps said “every nasty, horrible thing on social media” about Radziwill.

I am begging the universe to not let that be a sentence that ever comes out of my mouth by the time that I’m in my 50s. All the things I thought I would love about getting older — no drama, great friends, healthy relationships —none of that is happening on RHONY, and it’s making me terrified of getting older.
When do I get to look forward to a drama-free life?
It’s not all bad, though. The way the women gossip about men is less terrifying and more hilarious. Radziwill saying that after a year she’s finally comfortable with the term “boyfriend” was my favorite moment of the whole episode. It came off cool and casual. She was the stereotypical New York woman that moment and also everything I hope I can be when I’m older.

There’s no way I’ll ever be as cool as Radziwill, but if that means that I don’t have to deal with any of the drama she puts up with, I’ll be OK with that.
