After losing entertainment icons Merle Haggard, Patty Duke and Garry Shandling over the past couple weeks, we’re happy to announce that, for the most part, this week in pop culture was downright delightful.
Here’s what you missed in case you weren’t paying attention.
1. Girl wakes up from wisdom teeth surgery to the Zombocalypse
I have two brothers that gave me a hard time growing up, but these guys just took things to a whole new level by tricking their poor little sister while she’s under the influence. I have to hand it to her, though; despite being drugged, Millicent remains remarkably clear-headed. Especially when she calls out her brother’s choice of weaponry to fend off the zombies.

“We have guns, why are we putting gardening equipment in the car?” she yells at him.
I’m just glad I’m not her dog.
2. Aziz Ansari takes on Kanye
Ansari and his BFF Eric Wareheim traveled all the way to Europe to make their video version of Kanye West’s “Famous” — and we’re so glad they did because it’s hilarious.
Between Ansari and Wareheim shoving their faces with pasta and frolicking through the cobbled streets of Italy, It’s impossible to decide on a favorite part. Watch it and see if you can pick one.
3. Simple Plan releases a new video
Aw, Simple Plan — where have you been all my life? Nineties and ’00s kids, rejoice! The boys are back and with a new video for their song “Singing in the Rain” off the new album, Taking One for the Team.

4. The Black Keys shit all over Steve Miller
After inducting Steve Miller into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach announced in an interview with Rolling Stone that he and band mate Pat Carney deeply regretted being part of the induction because of Miller’s later comments denouncing the music industry and the Hall of Fame. Auerbach said that it wasn’t pleasant being around Miller, he was upset because Miller didn’t know who he was, and he had literally lost sleep over the situation.
OK, I’m totally playing the devil’s advocate here and Miller most likely really was a jerk to them, but did Auerbach really have to go public with their disdain? Miller’s just fighting the man, man. His heyday was back in the ’70s, after all.
And honestly, as soon as I had read what Auerbach had to say, I ran straight to iTunes and purchased nine Steve Miller Band songs I hadn’t listened to since high school.
5. The Olsen Twins finally join the world on social media
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen fans were excited to see the notoriously private twins had shared their first public selfie ever on Sephora’s Instagram account.
Does this mean they’ll be on Season 2 of Fuller House?
6. Alexander Skarsgård shows up to the MTV Movie Awards with no pants
Remember when I said earlier that it was a delightful week in pop culture? Well, my darlings, it really doesn’t get much more delightful than this. It’s been a lot harder to get my pantsless Skarsgård fix ever since True Blood went off the air, so seeing him present at the MTV Movie Awards in his tighty-whities was more than welcome.

7. Beautiful Stories… is the No. 1 podcast on iTunes
“1 phone call. 1 hour. No names. No holds barred,” is the mantra of this fantastic podcast, hosted by comedian Chris Gethard. Every week, Gethard fields a call from an anonymous caller, and he has to roll with whatever happens without hanging up. I promise, you’ll be instantly addicted.

8. Marvel’s Dr. Strange trailer blows up
This trailer already has more than 8.7 million views and counting because… Cumberbatch.
Honestly, though, this movie looks amazing. Dr. Strange hits theaters on Nov. 4.

10. Kobe’s 60
As the curtains close on Kobe Bryant‘s career and he heads for retirement, fans celebrated the iconic player — while haters told him not to let the door hit him in the ass on the way out.
But love him or despise him, you have to admit he is one hell of a player — and he proved it during his last game ever on Wednesday night, when he scored an amazing 60 points.
