In the midst of all the Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan drama, Pretty Little Liars actress Shay Mitchell just landed a gig filling in for Ripa while she’s away from Live! With Kelly and Michael.
Ripa was surprisingly absent from the talk show on Wednesday after co-host Michael Strahan revealed on Tuesday that he will be leaving the show to join the Good Morning America team full time.

“I look forward to continuing to work with the incredible team at GMA. It is an exciting opportunity to be able to bring unique stories and voices to the audience,” Strahan said in a statement. “My time with Live! With Kelly and Michael has been transformative, and my departure will be bittersweet.”
Ripa reportedly feels hurt and betrayed by Strahan for how he handled the announcement, as he did not tell her he was leaving before he told the public. Mitchell and Erin Andrews will fill in for the co-host while she’s away.

While some television fans might be surprised to see Mitchell co-hosting a morning talk show, we aren’t too shocked by this choice on the network’s part. Live! With Kelly and Michael and Pretty Little Liars are both part of the ABC family.
So excited to be co-hosting @KellyandMichael this coming Monday! Don't forget to tune in 😊

Plus, Mitchell is a popular blogger and YouTube personality in addition to being an actress. The star’s YouTube channel has more than 1 million subscribers. We could definitely see Mitchell going down the hosting road and doing more gigs like this one.

In the midst of all this drama between Strahan and Ripa, eyes will definitely be on Mitchell when she co-hosts the show on Monday. If she does a good job, she could set herself for a successful hosting career.
However, if she doesn’t do well, audiences aren’t very forgiving when it comes to underperforming on live television. Remember when Khloé Kardashian co-hosted The X-Factor USA with Mario Lopez? Her hosting career still hasn’t recovered.
