Bachelor Nation, our wait is almost over!
More:If JoJo Fletcher has it her way, you won’t see any blonds or bums on The Bachelorette
We now have less than a month to go before JoJo Fletcher begins her reign as The Bachelorette. But the first trailer for the new season aired Monday, and it didn’t do anything to increase my excitement. See for yourself:
First off, that trailer was seriously lacking in any sort of substance. Half of it was just a recap of Ben Higgins and the infamous dual “I love you’s” from the last season of The Bachelor. Come on, ABC. We’ve already seen that. Give us something new.

The rest of the trailer, though, isn’t any better. It gives us a rapid-fire collage of short clips of some of the guys, including one who’s riding a unicorn during his entrance — an obvious throwback to when JoJo exited her limo wearing a unicorn mask. There’s shots of JoJo herself, looking pretty and excited as anyone would be to be the new Bachelorette, saying her cheesy line, “Bring on the men.” Aaand that’s about it.
I hate to say it, but this trailer might confirm my deep fear: that JoJo is going to be an extremely boring Bachelorette. It’s only partly her fault; she is, after all, following Kaitlyn Bristowe, who was possibly the most exciting, controversial Bachelorette in the franchise’s history.
But think back to Ben’s season and try to remember, well, anything about JoJo. Are there any particular scenes that come to mind? For me, not really, because she was rarely all that memorable. Her disastrous hometown date does come to mind, but only because of her frighteningly overprotective brothers. Maybe they should be the new Bachelorette instead of JoJo. They were obviously far more memorable.
