The Chew‘s Carla Hall’s life wouldn’t be the same without these six women

If you’ve watched Top Chef or The Chew, then you know the quirky, lovable chef Carla Hall. Not only is she a co-host, but she’s also owner of Carla Hall Petite Cookies, opening up her very first restaurant, Carla Hall’s Southern Kitchen, in Brooklyn and she’s performing a free chef demo at Chipotle’s music and food festival, Cultivate Festival, in Kansas City.

While she’s clearly one busy lady, she was able to sit down for a few moments to list out all the women who have inspired and supported her throughout the years — her woman crushes. And here they are, in her own words:

Sherrill Berryman Miller

“She was my dance teacher at Howard University and she was strong and she pushed us and really I credit her for giving me the discipline to do everything that I love.”

Maya Angelou

“The beauty of her writing always struck me, but even more than that, the heft of her voice has always been something I found incredibly inspiring. She was such a strong woman, and I’ve always admired that.”

Oprah Winfrey

“I so much admire how she balances her spirituality with her career. How she handles being a very public persona. And also, of course, being able to watch and study a black woman who ‘made it’ definitely influenced me.”

Marianne Williamson

“It was her books that my cousin gave me during a tough time in my life that really helped me. When I started on my own path to spirituality, it was with the help of Marianne Williamson, and I still follow her.”
