Even with the tension, Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman are setting a great example

The parents hosted the party at The Playroom in New York City and although onlookers called the vibe between them “tense,” no major fights broke out. It seems like they spent the whole party doing what every other parent hosting a party for 2-year-olds does — they mingled with guests, they corralled children and they hoped it would go off without any major meltdowns. That in itself is a tense situation! Maybe the tension had nothing to do with the separation and everything to do with a large group of 2-year-olds.

What is more important than the tension, however, is the fact that they are trying. As divorce rates continue to rise, more and more people will find themselves in coparenting relationships. Although it’s not ideal, it is what’s best for any children involved.

As we all watch them go through this time and try to make the best of it, we should be applauding Barrymore and Kopelman and showing our support to the entire family.
