I love Kesha and Zedd’s song already, and I haven’t even heard it

Kesha is back in the studio doing exactly what she should be doing — making new music. The singer announced today that she will be releasing a new single with Zedd on April 29. This is a huge announcement and an amazing sign of hope for Kesha, so everyone needs to support it no matter what it sounds like.

The DJ said that their song “True Colors” will be out on Friday and that “music can be freedom!” A clear commentary on Kesha’s dire situation with Dr. Luke and Sony.

Kesha also did her part to tease the song when she posted a picture to Instagram on Tuesday, April 26. She captioned the black and white image, “It’s a miracle when someone gives you a chance at finding your voice again with no reason other than that he is a f–king beautiful person with a heart of gold @zedd #truecolors.”

Zedd certainly had no reason to reach out and work with Kesha, but he did it because he saw what a terrible position the courts and Sony have put her in and wanted to help. Because Zedd is signed to the same Kemosabe label as Kesha and Dr. Luke, she is allowed to make music with him without Dr. Luke present. It’s not a loophole in any of the court decisions, it’s just a lucky coincidence that Zedd is an amazing, supportive artist who wants to help Kesha out.

No matter what “True Colors” sounds like, everyone should show their support for the song. This is the only music Kesha has been able to record or release since her 2012 Warrior album and there’s no end in sight for her legal battles. As she continues to fight for her freedom and career, the only thing we can do is support any music she releases.

UPDATE: On Friday, April 29, Kesha posted a snippet on her Facebook, and it already sounds great.
