Ariel Winter has strong opinions when it comes to flaunting your body and sharing photos of it on social media, and she was a vocal champion of Kim Kardashian’s nude selfie — you may remember the controversy that the image caused a few months back.

And Winter is still speaking her mind on the issue, encouraging women, and men, to embrace the positive aspects of their lives and always stay true to themselves — and she made this message clear with a lengthy post.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Winter referenced a “certain interview” which many believe to be Chloë Grace Moretz, who opened up to Glamour magazine about why she disapproved of Kardashian’s nude selfie — and it should be noted she does make some valid points and is all about starting conversations.

“If you take a photo in which you feel CONFIDENT about yourself and think it spreads a positive image, then go for it,” Winter’s post read, adding, “the “background” doesn’t matter — what matters is that what you are putting out there is true to what YOU believe in — not what anyone else says about YOU.”
She continued, driving home the message that she’s trying to create a “positive light” for her fans, and that there is “no need to put one another down.” She captioned the post with, “Body positivity #messageoverbackground #bodypositivity #liveyourlife.”

It’s a pretty solid message, and one that we need to remember: Life is too short to appease everyone. What really matters is that you stay true to yourself, do what makes you happy, and act the way you want to, but without doing harm to others or spreading negativity.
We applaud Winter’s message, and the fact that she did not name the person in the interview she was referring to — really, that would have created unnecessary cattiness and would have gone against the message she’s trying to send.
While not everyone agrees with Winter’s message, she has received much support and comments, including one from patsfanss7 who wrote, “You got it @arielwinter !!! Just be you there are always going to be haters who are miserable with themselves that have to lash out at others. It’s sad. You are awesome and wise beyond your years! Love being you and everything else is golden !”
J.kate_e agreed, writing, “@arielwinter that’s is so inspirational. Thank you for being so strong your beautiful and we will support you no matter what!!”
