Emma Watson wears garbage & 9 more stories in pop culture this week

From being gifted with a bunch of awesome new tunes to a duchess posing for a fashion shoot, it was another crazy week in pop culture.

Here’s what you might have missed if you weren’t paying attention.

1. Radiohead releases (amazing) new music

Did anyone else freak out when articles started popping up this week saying that Radiohead and its members were deleting all of their social media? I thought for sure it meant bad news, but turns out it was just a sign of good things to come.

The band surprised fans with a new song titled “Burn the Witch” on May 3, and elated everyone again on May 6 with the release of “Daydreaming.”

The entire new album, their first studio album in over five years, is scheduled to drop on May 8.

2. Kate Middleton covers Vogue

The Duchess of Cambridge appears on the cover of the latest issue of British Vogue for the magazine’s 100th anniversary — and her style is noticeably low-key.

She didn’t want to be dressed as a fashion plate and was not keen to be shot in gala gowns and tiaras,” Alexandra Shulman, the editor of British Vogue, wrote in the accompanying article, via The New York Times.

3. Kesha breaks free

After surviving her legal dramas involving Dr. Luke and Sony, Kesha has finally recorded a new song titled “True Colors” with the help of her friend DJ and music producer Zedd.

“True Colors” is a huge departure from the party anthems Kesha recorded under Dr. Luke and seems to be a better showcase of her talent.

You go, girl!

4. Yet another kid on anesthesia goes viral

Apparently, I really need to get to Dubai.

5. Emma Watson wears garbage to the Met Gala

She looks drop-dead gorgeous, but in reality, Watson’s gown is actually made of trash.

Her look is a custom Calvin Klein Collection design made from sustainable cotton, satin and taffeta woven from recycled plastic yarn.

“I made a choice last year that I would only wear sustainable fashion on the red carpet,” Watson told CNN. “The fashion industry is the second-biggest pollutant of fresh water on the planet.”

6. 50 Cent harasses an airport employee

Ugh, there are no words for this. 50 Cent not only harassed an airport employee who has autism and accused him of being on drugs, but he also recorded it and posted the video to his Instagram for shits and giggles. He later backtracked and said he didn’t realize the employee was autistic and donated $100,000 to Autism Speaks, according to TMZ.

So sad. Hopefully he learned his lesson.

7. The Shallows official trailer hits YouTube

Um, thanks Blake Lively. I’ll just cancel any plans I had to take a dip in the ocean from now until forever.

The Shallows hits theaters this summer.

8. Prince, An Artist’s Life 1958-2016 is released

From the editors of Time magazine comes this special tribute to Prince. The commemorative edition contains rare photographs as well as the story behind the movie Purple Rain, and a look into Prince’s home and studio.

You can purchase a hard copy of the edition here and it’s available for download here.

9. The Ringer takes over the iTunes podcast charts

If you’re looking for a new sports podcast, Bill Simmons’ podcasts from his site The Ringer are where it’s at. This week The Ringer’s NBA Show hit No. 1 on the charts, while The Ringer’s NFL Show sat at No. 2.

The Ringer’s NBA Show is available for download here and The Ringer’s NFL Show is available for download here.

10. Baby times two for Janet Jackson

Yes, this week was all about babies for Jackson. Not only are rumors swirling that she is expecting her first child, but her new video for “Dammn Baby” hit the internet on May 4.

What was your favorite moment in pop culture this week?
