You may love him, but there’s no way Anderson Cooper will be the Live! co-host

Another day, another potential new co-host for Live! with Kelly.

More:Now Live! is just being a tease: The co-host may not be anyone we’ve guessed

This time it’s Anderson Cooper, whose name has been thrown into the ring in recent weeks, and who joined Kelly Ripa as a guest co-host on Wednesday’s show for the first time since Michael Strahan departed to join Good Morning America.

Ripa and Cooper are longtime friends, and it showed in their easy banter during the show. They even revealed that Ripa and her family had been guests at Cooper’s house over Memorial Day weekend before he came onto the show.

You’re a gracious host,” Ripa told Cooper.

With guest Gloria Estefan on Wednesday’s episode, Cooper and Ripa tried their respective hands at Latin dancing, at one point joining Estefan in a conga line. Before that, though, they danced a samba, and when Cooper pulled Ripa close for one move, she joked, “We just made a baby!”

Before Strahan even left Live!, sources on the show’s inside were saying Cooper was a front-runner to be his replacement.

“It’s likely Kelly will bring up Anderson’s name as a replacement,” one insider said.

But Cooper has a comfortable gig as a journalist on CNN, and the likelihood that he’ll leave his journalistic legacy behind to co-host a morning talk show seems slim.

Regardless, Cooper himself has addressed the rumors, telling Andy Cohen on an episode of Watch What Happens Live, “Listen, I love Kelly and I think Kelly is the heart and soul of that show, and it’s gonna go on and continue to be great. I’m very happy at CNN. It would be a dream to work with Kelly, but nobody’s offering anything.”
