After a chaotic week of news from the set of General Hospital with the temporary departures of Tyler Christopher and Kirsten Storms, there’s a bright spot on the horizon. TV Line announced that fan-favorite Ingo Rademacher would be returning to the ABC on a recurring basis beginning July 29 as Jasper “Jax” Jacks.

The last time soap viewers saw Jax was for GH’s 50th anniversary show on April 1, 2013. His return for the summer storylines is a welcome relief and a great move by producers. This takes some of the heat off the news regarding the other actors’ absences.
We’re thrilled at the announcement because it also brings back an older storyline that needs some closure. Where did that mystery kidney that saved daughter Josslyn’s (Eden McCoy) life come from? Even though it was thought to be Jake’s (Hudson West) kidney, he’s still alive. That organ had to come from somewhere because someone is walking around with one less kidney in Port Charles right now.

We aren’t the only ones who are rejoicing at the news. Fans took to social media to add their two cents about the return of Rademacher. It seems fans want the veteran actors on their TV screens versus fresh faces. It might help producers to take a look at some of the opinions being voiced by the viewers to keep this show on track.

So happy to hear that @IngoRademacher is coming back to #GH ! I'd much rather see old characters return than a batch of new/useless ones.

It’s been a dramatic year off the set of GH with studio executive Nathan Varni stepping out of bounds by talking about Rebecca Herbst’s contract negotiations, the revolving door of actors and other heated contract negotiations. It really is the perfect time to have some stability with a quintessential character to come in and rescue GH from its own backstage drama.

It’s unlikely that Rademacher will return full time to GH since he seems to like dropping in and out of Port Charles. He has had a recurring role on Hawaii Five-0 and he managed an impressive fifth place on Season 16 of Dancing with the Stars.
We’re just happy that he’s back and possibly giving us a hot summer storyline.
