There was a time when Kesha felt uncomfortable in her skin, but not anymore. And she’s making that message perfectly clear with her response to a man who body-shamed and bullied her.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday, Kesha uploaded a picture of herself with her butt in the air as she waded in the ocean, and she captioned it with a powerful message about how she will no longer tolerate bullying.
“Dear @jackknife76 , I see that you would very much like me to know that you think I’m ugly, and also a ‘whore,'” Kesha wrote, adding, “Well, I understand that that is your opinion, but I disagree. I’m not perfect but I’m pretty fucking magical. And also, I am not, in fact, a whore. Also bullying someone who has struggled publicly with body issues is pretty mean. Thank God I’m in a place in my life where I feel empowered to address your nasty comments instead of letting them destroy me. So. On behalf of anyone anywhere who struggles with body image, STOP IT. My body is not your business. In conclusion, kiss my magical imperfect ass.”

The final two sentences are so important: Kesha’s body (or any of our bodies) is no one else’s business, and what we do with them shouldn’t be either — a message which many commenters have applauded.
“Being bullied is not a joke and it takes incredible strength to stand to someone like you have, Kesha, and I just want to thank you for inspiring me and countless others to love themselves and stand up to people who are trying to extinguish their light,” jrlaws78 wrote. “You are not a whore but a shining star in the dark water filled with sharks.”

“You’re so empowering!! thank you so much,” stanfordsammy shared.
Rjes013 thanked Kesha for being so open about her own struggles, writing, “Thank you for being so honest about your struggle. Recovering from an eating disorder is a hard road and to do so publicly… bless you.”
But there are also those who feel that Kesha shouldn’t have posted this message at all.
“Posting this shows she cares way too much what people think,” paulaschryver wrote.
“That’s a low move from a celebrity like you,” really_yasser wrote, adding, “You’re still a bit hurt from the deep down.”
“Wow. She posts this to show ppl u shouldnt bodyshame and bully — and half of her fans and others do just that in the comments,” lillisabelle wrote. “So many hate on each other! Just Wow…”

Kesha’s intention was clearly to put her haters in place, but naming the person in question has resulted in a torrent of hate from her fans. Could this have caused more harm than good? Or is she absolutely right to call out those who have hurt her? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
