Amber Heard’s friend slams the media’s ‘witch hunt’ in explosive new tweets

A couple of weeks ago, there was a media firestorm because Johnny Depp‘s friend Doug Stanhope wrote a scathing op-ed on The Wrap, in which he defended Depp against the domestic violence allegations Amber Heard made against him and accused Heard of allegedly blackmailing and manipulating Depp.

Things between the former couple have continued to escalate, and there are two very different sides to the story. And now there has been a new development: Heard’s close friend, iO Tillett Wright, has publicly come to her defense.

Taking to Twitter on Monday, Wright (who, according to E! News, was named in Heard’s court documents requesting a restraining order from Depp) slammed an article on TMZ about the domestic violence allegations.

Wright made it clear that she has had enough of the reports in the media and questioned how much evidence a woman needs before her version of events is finally believed.

Then she took aim at the article once again.

She also commented on the culture of victim-blaming and how it makes her sick, later adding that she is standing up for Heard and is willing to testify under oath that she heard Heard scream when Depp hit her.

The domestic violence allegations against Depp have been hotly contested. According to Heard’s court documents, obtained by E! News, she had been speaking on the phone to Wright when Depp “ripped the cell phone from my hand and began screaming profanities and insults at iO. I heard iO yell at me to get out of the house. Johnny then grabbed the cell phone, wound up his arm like a baseball pitcher and threw the cell phone at me striking my cheek and eye with great force.”

Heard reportedly then yelled to iO to call 911, stating, “Johnny continued screaming at me, pulling my hair, striking me and violently grabbing my face.”

Depp has not personally addressed the claims, but his rep did release a statement saying, “… Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life…”
