Adam Levine honors Christina Grimmie in the absolute best way possible

In the wake of the tragic death of 22-year-old singer Christina Grimmie on Friday night, her mentor and coach on The Voice, Adam Levine, has offered to help her family in the best way he possibly could — Grimmie’s brother Marcus has shared, via a Facebook post, that Levine will be paying for her funeral services.

Grimmie wrote, “I found out this morning, that Adam Levine personally called my mother and said he will pay for the funeral and her plane flight, and I was blown away. Now a friend just told me to look at the gofundme page and I see it is at 100k. Words cannot express…literally I have no words.”

The gesture comes after Levine shared a message to social media expressing how devastated he was by her untimely death.

Levine coached Grimmie on Season 6 of The Voice, which aired in early 2014, and remained by her side after she came in third on the singing competition show, vowing to give her a record deal on his own record label, 222 Records, even if she did not win the show. After the announcement, Grimmie wrote on Facebook that Levine believed in her.

In a 2014 interview, Grimmie became emotional when discussing the impact Levine had on her career. “I admire Adam Levine so much more than I think anyone could ever even realize… He just trusts me and it’s weird because I trust him mutually, I always have. But the fact that every week, week to week, he’s been telling me, ‘I respect you as an artist. I understand you as an artist.’ That’s so amazing to hear from him and I’m just so proud and happy he’s my coach. It means the world.”

Levine’s gesture toward Grimmie’s memorial services is a truly touching way for him to honor her legacy in the wake of her family’s unspeakable tragedy. No parent should ever have to bury their child, especially at only 22 years old, and it just goes to show that Levine was so much more than just a celebrity on a singing show to Grimmie. It’s not about the money, but instead a beautiful gift to honor Grimmie in the way she deserves, without potential financial restrictions. Levine should be applauded for his gracious gesture in honoring a beautiful and talented life lost far too soon.
