Hold up, people really want Jesse Williams fired because of his BET speech

Stacy Dash isn’t the only one who hated Jesse Williams’ BET speech, as this new petition on Change.org proves.

The petition, which calls to fire Williams from ABC’s hit show Grey’s Anatomy for his “racist rant” has already gathered 4834 signatures, with a goal of 5,000.

The petition is asking the broadcaster to fire Williams for his “racist, hate speech against law enforcement and white people at the BET awards” and has compared Williams’ speech to the inappropriate homophobic slur from Isaiah Washington — who starred as Preston Burke — resulting in him swiftly being fired from the show, yet there have been no consequences yet for Williams.

“Why the one-way street? Why the support for a hater? Why the hypocrisy? #AllLivesMatter All humans bleed the same color. #EqualConsequences4RacistBehavior,” the petition states.

The petition also has a note which states that it isn’t politically motivated, and focuses on “equal consequences for racist behavior.” Adding, “If this was an Asian, Mexican, Caucasian or whoever saying the same exact words as Jesse Williams did, I would be against it and petitioned them to be fired if they did not suffer the same consequences as others have suffered for their irrational behavior.”

But if you think that this petition holds any weight with the show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes, you’d be so wrong because she took to Twitter in defense of Williams.

Williams also took to Twitter to share a message about not promoting “empty people and their tantrums.”
